Five Feel Goods

Just wanted to spread the joy of five things that have been making me feel good today (besides the fact that it's the start of a long weekend).

1. I've had this obsession with listening to 70s Folk Music on Pandora every morning while I get ready. Through doing so, I've fallen in love with Fleetwood Mac. Two of my favorites from them are The Chain and Landslide.

2. The "Meow Loafers" from Delias. I'm googly-eyed over the black ones. I could wear Luna shoes everywhere I go.

3. The messy bob sported by Kate Beckinsale. Pretty sure it's a faux bob but I think it would be a cute actual bob too.

4. Munchkin is this strange card game that our friends introduced to us recently and I think we will buy our own in the near future. If you love board and card games, look into this one!

5. A quote I discovered a couple nights ago on Pinterest and something I want to ask myself regularly. Wouldn't it be great to do something for the first time every day?

Enjoy your weekend! Mine will be full of hiking, shopping and hopefully some boating too!

Five Feel Goods (Running Edition)

Yeah, so I claimed I didn't want to do Five Feel Goods Friday any longer, but I decided I want to do one more. At least for today. You see, tomorrow morning I'll be running my first half marathon. I'm trying to get into this distance running thing, but I'm not that great. Maybe if I keep doing it then I'll someday be great. In high school and when I ran at college, I was used to running a little strip of the track. And usually I also jumped over hurdles as I ran down the strip of track. The race was over in the blink of an eye, and I was actually pretty good. I usually beat people. Well, I don't beat a ton of people in these kinds of races. And that kinda bugs me. Because I'm a fairly competitive person.

All the same, running is fun. It makes me feel healthy and it makes me feel tough. Even though I'm really not extremely healthy or tough. And for those of you that are trying to feel the love for running, here are five things that make me feel good and motivate me to go on a nice long run and (hopefully) not puke after.

1.

Shop Nike for Shoes, Clothing & Gear. Start shopping now at www.nike.com
Shop Nike for Shoes, Clothing & Gear. Start shopping now at www.nike.com

Fun running clothes are a must when you're running a race. I'm not into the whole matchy-matchy I took fifteen minutes to pick out my running outfit thing. But wearing clothes that are bright obnoxious colors always make me more legit when I am getting ready to run. I found these on Nike's website. That Nike, gotta love 'em.

2.

I love using dailymile. It's an awesome website you can use to track all your runs. You can map your running routes out and see how long it is, track your times, and it counts up your miles for each week. You can also document how you felt during each run. It's awesome. And it doesn't just track running. You can track basically any type of exercise.

3.

When it comes to running longer races, there are lots of nasty foods that give you quick energy. I tried these jelly beans over the summer for a relay race I did, and they were actually pretty tasty. And I swear they work! Every time I started slowing down and feeling dead, I'd just pop a couple jelly beans in my mouth and pretty soon I'd get a lovely burst of energy.

4.

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones
Good music that pumps me up while I'm running is an absolute must. My playlist is seriously constantly changing. Sometimes I have mostly rap songs. Other times I have a lot of depressing piano serenades. And then there are those runs which are filled with classic rock and power ballads from the 80s. Above are ten songs off my playlist of around 40 songs for tomorrow.

5.

Having great friends to run with is also a rad idea and probably my very favorite part of running in races. I would probably never go run many races by myself. I always go with friends so they can keep me motivated and so after the run is over we can party together.

I'm so excited to be spending this weekend in St George with my mom, aunt, and one of our other friends. It will be my first night away from BWell since we've been married, eek!

Wish me luck! If I don't cross the finish line after 3 hours, apparently they'll shut the course down.

Five Feel Goods

1.

I finally found a dress for our Vegas trip.

2.

Last day of regular classes was today. You know what this means? I don't have to haul a tripod and camera around for a whole month. And Prof. Champagne gave out the tackiest yet best trophies/awards for Newscast. I'm in need of a trophy case to put my mini construction cone in.

3.

Destiny's Child singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". Except they look like characters straight from the classic "Rudolph" movie. Awesome and hilarious. It makes me laugh like my tummy is a bowlful of jelly . . . or something.

4.

A pretty way to display some of my favorite necklaces.

5.

These tasty Oreo Truffles I fully plan on making for our Ugly Christmas Sweater party. The party is tomorrow! Eek!!

Now Brian and I are off to the store to get some party supplies. Merry weekend.

Five Feel Goods

Technically Friday is now over. But I still want to squeeze in my Friday Five Feel Goods any ways! I ended up having a busier day than I had originally planned. But it was a good kind of busier, the kind I'm totally okay with.

My mom made a last minute trip to Logan and surprised me by picking me up after my classes. We then went on a delicious lunch date to one of my favorite pizza places in Logan (which I plan on featuring soon as a Logan Love post) and after lunch we went antique shopping. If I had the money, I swear I would blow it all on antiques. My mom got some finds which I was probably slightly jealous of. I still wish she would have bought the record player so I could be jealous of that. Guys, it was the most beautiful contraption I've ever laid eyes on. And I gingerly pulled the doors open: on one side sat the loveliest AM/FM radio and on the other a record player. Then to tickle my fancy further, I looked on the tag to see in big bold letters with several exclamation points, "WORKS!!" Although my mom did not purchase the record player, she did make a purchase for me, which I'll tell you about soon enough.

Anyhow, after my adventure with my mom, Brian and I went on a double date with our dear friends, Lauren and Richie. We went to a hockey game. USU played Colorado State. USU won 3-2. Way to go, boys. I discovered I like hockey. It's fascinating. My favorite part is when the players get in trouble they get sent to the box. It's like little kid time-out for big tough hockey players. But it's even better since they sit in a glass box. I'm still laughing about it. Immature? Maybe. But I don't care. After the game, we also got dessert at Chilis and stayed there laughing and chatting until our waitress started making rude comments and giving us the death glare.

And now that I've told you about my whole entire Friday (which you probably didn't care to hear about), let's get on to five things that are currently making me feel goooood.

1.
Pretty, pretty flowers. While at Smith's Marketplace this past week, I recognized the flower bouquets were buy one get one half off. So I thought to myself, "Why not? Flowers are delightful. I wouldn't mind spending a small sum of money for slightly beat-up flowers." So I did. The colorful arrangement on the right is brightening up our kitchen at this very moment and I gave the purple ones away to a friend.

2.

Infinity scarves. I about bought one this week. . .but I'm trying to hold out for Christmas. Yes, it's on my Christmas wish list. A thick and comforting infinity scarf that I may wrap many times snugly around my neck (which is usually bare due to my hair being too short to protect it) sounds glorious.

3.
Nutcrackers make me happy. Especially this miniature guy I scored for two bucks. I am so excited about the holidays. Don't worry, he won't be set out as a decoration until the day after Thanksgiving.

4.
And speaking of Christmas, this is what my mom so kindly bought for me. Vintage Christmas ornaments still in their original box. It makes me giddy just thinking of hanging these on our very own Christmas tree in a week's time. I am thrilled for mine and Brian's first Christmas together. Thrilled. And a BIG thanks to my mom for buying these for me. She is too awesome.

5.
Words can't even explain how good I feel about the release of this trailer. I'll be counting down the days for when this movie comes out. I sure hope the movies live up to the books. Ah, Hunger Games. I love you.

If you are interested in guest posting your very own "Five Feel Goods" on A Little Bird Told Me, please contact me at kelsey.keller@aggiemail.usu.edu. I would love to have you. There are always so many things surrounding us to feel good about :).

Five Feel Goods

I'll be honest. It's been a really rough week. There hasn't been a night this week where I've gone to bed before 1 am. And all those nights turn into early mornings where I roll out of bed, finish up homework and force myself to get ready. I've been a bit discouraged lately, feeling sad for suffering friends, feeling beat up from school, feeling confused about what I want to do with my life after I graduate, feeling like one thing just piles on top of the next. Doing assignment after assignment, writing paper after paper, shooting stories and editing them for hours on end, not to mention my hamper which is probably begging me to empty it and do laundry. Sadly, I probably won't do so until Brian and I have nothing left to wear and my last resort will be to wear lunch sacks or wash clothes.

I don't want to sound like a Negative Nelly, but I do want to be real. Life is not perfect. Life is not all fun adventures (although I wish it was). Sometimes life is messy. Sometimes life is frightening. Sometimes life is a week full of personal battles which build up and build up until you find yourself sobbing after setting your backpack, tripod, and camera in the back seat, climbing into your van and putting your key in the ignition. And then after you're done sobbing randomly out of nowhere, you buy some oreos and milk at the grocery store and you move on.

Sometimes that is what life is. And even though it's hard and I don't understand why certain people must go through certain trials, what I do understand is that all those trying moments make the sweet and happy moments even better.

Here are five sweet and happy things for my lovely readers. . .

1.
This sweatshirt is just plain pretty. And what makes me feel really good is that this a a DIY which is quite simple. Once I get a break from school (perhaps over Thanksgiving break) I'd like to create my own. It is an easy endeavor to find a cheap, plain, yet very comfy sweatshirt. So I could probably do that. And then after adding some delicate little doilies. . .BAM. . .you have yourself a beautiful but still comfy sweatshirt. Want to try it with me, Mom? Craft date? I found this tutorial right here!

2.
Brian and I now get the newspaper. Which I'm weirdly happy about. Now if we could just get television so I can watch the nightly news. I'm not complaining though. Brian and I have a ball reading our horoscopes each morning over breakfast.

3.

Pumpkin roll. Oh, it's heavenly. I made a roll last weekend and we gobbled it up pretty quickly. I spent this afternoon making another one. Addicted? Perhaps. Pumpkin roll is my favorite dessert for Thanksgiving. I just have never been a huge fan of pie. Sorry pie lovers. I mean, I'll eat it. But I never get excited about eating it. Pumpkin roll is a different story though. I salivate. My eyes grow big. I get stoked about eating it.

4.

This asymmetrical bob has me feeling good! It's so funky and fresh. I am motivated to go for this look. Here we go, let the hair grow. Let's be real though, I will most likely go back to oober short at some point. I just love short hair.

5.
I feel good about this! I am beyond ready to have a fun-filled night full of wishes, steak dinner, staying in a cabin with my pal, playing board games, watching movies, my Aggies beating BYU (fingers are crossed), and just having a romantic night with BWell without any distractions or thoughts of school/work. It'll be refreshing. Everyone wish big tonight at 11:11. It won't happen for another 100 years. So we probably won't be alive.

Happy weekend, all! Smile big and look for the good in stuff, cause good is everywhere.

Five Feel Goods

Better late than never I guess you could say.

Five things I feel awfully good about on this fine Friday. . .

1.

I really love this bunny sweater. Yep, you read it right: a bunny sweater. The bunny's tail is even a poof ball. This sweater is great and I'm pretty sure I would wear it way too much, but I just can never justify buying things for myself with Christmas getting close at hand. Perhaps I'll put the good word in to Old Saint Nick. Or to husband. Either way. If you are weird like me and adore wearing little girl sweaters with cuddly animals on them, this sweater can be found for a whopping $19 at forever21.

2.
So I looked out the window just now and it is snowing. Which in a sick sort of way, that makes me excited. I would probably be depressed if it was a school night. But it just gives me the tingles in my tummy thinking about waking up in the morning, looking out the window at the cold frosted world, and then smirking as I know I have no obligations to be anywhere and I can just cuddle with Brian in bed to my little heart's desire. Also, with the coming snow that gives me the excuse to buy Tim Tam cookies. If you've never had a Tim Tam, it's about time you try one. Watch out, they are chocolatey! The trick to these cookies is that you'll need a mug of cocoa. Then you must bite a corner off the cookie and then bite the corner opposite of the corner you first bit (if that makes sense). Then you use the Tim Tam cookie as a straw for your cocoa. Sink one bitten corner into the coca and suck through the other bitten end. Once you get a taste of cocoa in your mouth, hurry and eat the cookie before it collapses since it'll be full of cocoa. These cookies are so tremendous. Seriously.

3.

Some Nike inspiration. I'm a big fan of Nike. Especially all their running ads (the hilarious and inspirational ones). I wanted to post this special for my mom. She's running in her first half-marathon tomorrow which I think is absolutely awesome! Good luck, Mom. Read some Nike quotes if you need to calm any nerves!

4.

I'm feeling SUPER good that it is now November. I'm a bit sad to see October leave, but it offered me some good times indeed. I'm excited for Thanksgiving though. I love November for the fact that all people seem to get a bit more thankful for things in life than they typically are the other 11 months out of the year. I think it is very important to always take note of the good things that occur in everyday life. I came across this 'Thankful Tree' idea on Pinterest and I'm hoping Bri and I can find the time to make our own.

5.
This movie makes me feel good. Well, it also makes me cry my eyes out, but it's a healthy kind of crying. If you haven't watched this movie, I highly recommend you do. It is a very thought-provoking movie about life, change, and growing up. It's a little bit of a longer movie, but it's worth every minute of watching. Plus, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are both equally amazing in it. Cate looks pretty flawless in this film too. Brian has never seen it, so we rented it and he's enjoying it thus far. I guess I better finish this post now so I can continue watching it with him.

Enjoy the weekend, my friends! If it's snowy where you are like it is here, I hope you can enjoy it. Go roll around in it and then eat some Tim Tams afterwards!

Five Feel Goods (Halloween Edition)

Not only is it the weekend, but it is Halloween weekend. That is a bunch of double goodness if you ask me. Brian and I decided at last minute to have a Halloween party tomorrow night. And by last minute I mean we officially let everyone know the time. . .this morning. So we'll see how that turns out. Some people don't like Halloween. I am a person that in fact likes Halloween a lot. I think it's a fun holiday. And yes, I guess there are some aspects about it that maybe rub me the wrong way, but I really do appreciate the holiday for what it's worth. Watching scary movies while curled up in a blanket, carving pumpkins, drinking hot chocolate in the mornings instead of orange juice, gathering articles of clothing to create a costume, going to corn mazes on the weekends. . .see, Halloween really is a grand holiday.

And here are five Halloween-themed things that have made me feel good about October 31st:

This idea is adorable. You just stack two bunt cakes on each other and make them look like a pumpkin. Festive and delicious.

I watched Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho for the first time this October and I totally appreciated it. It's funny to see how much movies have changed. Especially where this movie is rated R and could probably pass for PG in today's world. I think everyone should indulge in old horror movies. Something about a black and white horror movie just gets me. I think Alfred Hitchcock is a genius.

I came across this costume idea on Pinterest and I've already decided that years from now when Brian and I have a little demon child running around, that the demon child will be a penguin, I will be Mary Poppins, and Brian will be Bert.

Michael Jackson's classic "Thriller" music video is PERFECT for Halloween. It cracks me up every time I watch it and one day I WILL learn the dance. This also brings back memories of my first boy/girl party in middle school, because my mom set this up for us to watch. Ah, the memories.

Last but not least, everyone in their right mind enjoys a good caramel apple when the Halloween season creeps around. I think they're delicious, but they have a few downfalls. First, I can never seem to eat the whole thing. Secondly, they are dang messy. I always end up with caramel covered fingers and a sticky face. It's like I'm in 2nd grade again and I don't know how to eat with my manners. But then I discovered a bit of heaven on one of my new favorite blogs, abeautifulmess.typepad.com, when they made an easy recipe for caramel apple bites. I'm excited to try.

I hope everyone has a delightful and safe Halloween. Wish us luck on our party. We hope it comes together and turns out fun.

Five Feel Goods

Today is Friday. Praises. Sadly, I fear the majority of my weekend will still be spent doing homework.
Is it Christmas break yet?

But despite the nasty load of homework I have ahead of me, I'm sure BWell and I will still find some time for fun.

Remember how I used to do a "Five Feel Goods" every Friday? Remember how I haven't done it for quite some time? Well, I decided to start back up again. Because there is nothing wrong with focusing on the simple, lovely things that make us feel incredibly happy.

Pretty fall colors on my coffee table make me feel really good. A dish of candy corn and caramels, a book I still have to read and return to my grandma, and a handkerchief that is usually found around Luna's (the kitty) neck.

This sweet saying makes me feel good. It's from a Winnie the Pooh movie. Gosh, I love Winnie the Pooh. I would like to eventually make a sign like this and put it in our bedroom.

This tutorial  on how to make vintage suitcases even cuter! I have a plain brown suitcase I scored at an antique shop about a month ago. I totally plan on trying this with it. Perhaps this weekend as a break from writing papers?

Fall clothing. I love the fact that fall is here. It's my absolute favorite! If I could live somewhere in the world where it was fall weather all year, I'd move there. Stat. Okay, maybe. I do love my seasons. However, fall just makes me chipper. And it allows me to bust my favorite articles of clothing from my closet. Boots, leg warmers, sweaters, cardigans, leggings, hats. . .the fun just never stops.

Speaking of fall, it's the perfect time for me to make my favorite cookie. Pumpkin chocolate chip. There is nothing quite like curling up in bed with Bri and feasting on pumpkin chocolate chip cookies while drinking milk out of our special mugs.

I feel oh so good. I hope you feel good too, and have yourself a spectacular sort of weekend.

Five Feel Goods

People,

I feel on top of the world right now. What is causing me to feel this way?

Well, almost every day I get a package in the mail for something associated with the wedding. Whether it is old fashioned candy, colored lanterns, or my beautiful handmade headpiece I plan on wearing in my hair.

It is Fourth of July weekend. My very favorite weekend of the year. Well, that and rodeo weekend at the end of July.

And Brian comes home TOMORROW! Just in time for most of the festivities.

I am also getting glitter toes done today with my friend Lauren, and I'm hitting up the fireworks tonight with my family.

Life is soooooo good.

Here are five other things that are making me feel a little more on top of the world.

Fun summer nails. Bright colors and glitter.

Adorable puppies that I just want to squish! My family got a new puppy. Her name is Star, since our other dog is Ringo. We are Beatles fanatics at this house. I wanted to name her Lucy, as in the song 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. But Star is a good name too. Ever since our three-legged dog, Rex disappeared, Ringo has been quite lonely. So now he has a new little friend.

This charm necklace I made. I am eager to wear it out in public. And the best part? See that cool owl face?

It opens and is actually a clock!

The fact that I brought this big bag home yesterday. There is a wonderful ivory dress inside covered in lace. And I can't stop looking at it and thinking about how I'll soon be wearing it as a bride. Crazy.

I already mentioned this, but it gets double recognition. The Fourth of July is upon us! That is something to be excited about! The Fourth is my second favorite holiday after Christmas. It is full of some of my very favorite things: patriotism, barbeques, parades, playing in the water, big gatherings of people, America, and fireworks. What more could I ask for? Seriously?

Happy weekend to all! Play with some sparklers and eat something deep fried. Or you're just not American.

Five Feel Goods

So I realize I have been slacking on my Five Feel Goods Friday. The past few Fridays I've just been very. . .lazy. However, today I'm feelin' motivated and feelin' good. So let's take it from the top!

I am just crazy about this new mint colored nail polish I purchased yesterday. I just finished painting my toenails and I think I am in love.

Pulling a little snack out of the fridge is always nice. Especially when it is colorful and cute.

I am feeling AWESOME about the progress Brian and I are making with furnishings for our future home. We found that cute soap dish pictured above for just $8 at K-Mart! Then we found a spankin' deal on ksl.com for three lovely vintage chairs. Now we just need to find a bench and we can invite friends over for dinner!

Drinking Coke through a crazy straw. Perfect drink for late night studies.

Waking up early is one of my loves. I have been slacking this week, but this morning I finally got out of bed at the crack of dawn like I usually do. Early morning is my favorite time of the day. It is so nice to wake up, plant my feet on the floor, and thank God I get to wake up to yet another lovely morning.

Have a fabulous weekend. What have you felt good about this week?

Five Feel Goods

Today is a wonderful day. Seriously, so wonderful. The sun is out and shining, it is Friday, Brian and I ate brownies out in the sun, and we went to the school's counseling center to pet their dogs. Yes, the school has two dogs!! We mauled them and gave them dog treats. Life is good.

Here are just five things making me feel oh so good about life. . .

Henna. I'm back to my henna addiction. You didn't expect me to stay clean forever, did you? Besides, a friend of mine went to India and brought me back a couple tubes. It would have been rude to not go crazy with it.

The Old Farm Apartment ducks are back in town! I am so thrilled about this. I think they even remembered me from last year because when I opened my door this morning, they were sitting on my porch, waiting for me. They didn't even run away when I opened the door. They just sat there waiting for their bread. Oh no, I am turning into a duck lady.

The fact that it is now April, which means it is the month that this movie comes to theaters.

Mustard yellow. I am so crazy about this color right now. I want a mustard yellow dress for spring and mustard yellow shoes. That mustard yellow plane in the picture above would be sweet too.

This song. Me love. Pause my music at the bottom and enjoy the beauty of this beautiful man's voice. This song makes me think back on high school days. Specifically late spring and summer. Track season. Lakes. Dates to fireworks. Bonfires. Pranks. Sleeping outside. Rushing to make curfew. motorcycle rides. Bliss.

If you want an even bigger treat, find the acoustic version of this song. It's basically awesome.
