A Beautiful Lady

Today was probably a regular Sunday for most people. I, for one, went to church and entertained four-year-olds with Play-Doh. Brian was deadly ill and has been for a week now or we probably would have gone to visit this special lady pictured above. Today was my Grandma Karen Reeder's birthday.

I am so glad she was born and has lived the beautiful life she has thus far. She is an inspiration to me and has impacted my life in many ways.

She taught me how to love music.

She taught me how to love literature.

She encouraged me to be creative.

She taught me how to believe in myself.

And I love her so much for it.

My grandma is the kind of lady who is kind to everyone and I don't think there is a person in this world who dislikes her. Growing up, she basically acted as a grandma to nearly every kid in my graduating class. She is loved by so many people, including me. I was her first grandchild, so growing up she always reminded me that she didn't love me more than any of the other grandkids, but she'd loved me the longest. And yes, I'll probably always take some kind of sick pride in that.

Happy Birthday, Grandma. I hope it was a wonderful day.
